As summer turns to fall we transition into a new month... a new season... and a new chess calendar. With all that “new” it is great to know that one constant remains... the number of great chess events on our calendar!
The Fall Chess Season kicks off with the Northern Open on September 16-17 at the Roseville Skating Center... one of our chess players’ favorite sites. Then on September 22nd the fun TCCL format begins at a new site in Southdale Mall... the Chess Castle. On October 14th we celebrate National Chess Day at the Plymouth Community Center by hosting our 3rd Chess Challenger Event. This fantastic new format has received overwhelming support from our community of emerging over-the-board chess players. The weekend of October 21-22 will find us back at the Chess Castle for the State Senior Championship; which also includes a side chess tournament for players below the age of 50.
On November 4 there will be a one-day-only free scholastic tournament held at Eastview High School. On November 11-12 the MSCA will go on the road to Rochester's Mayo Civic Center for a premier event at a premier site; the annual Minnesota Class Chess Championships.
