The MSCA Board consists of 7 Directors who serve 2-year terms. The terms are staggered such that each year at our February Annual Membership Meeting we elect either 3 or 4 Directors to serve our chess community. This February there will be three Director roles up for election. Two of these Director roles are "general" roles with an expectation of 4-12 hours of volunteer service per week throughout the year. 20 of Minnesota's top senior (age 50+) chess players gathered at the Castle Chess Club on the last weekend of October for the annual State Senior Championship. Josiah Jorenby made 5 road trips to Minnesota chess tournaments, accumulated 596 points, and claimed the 2024 Grand Prix Championship by finishing 3 points ahead of runner-up NM Okey Iwu. Jorenby's play during the Grand Prix was marked by consistency as he was a fixture in the standings and on the top boards throughout the series.
