Today the MSCA is rolling out an exciting line-up for the 2025/2026 Chess Season. There are several highlights to appreciate as members update their calendars.
🗓️ ’25-’26 MSCA Chess Calendar! (Now Googlefied)
🏁 The popular Grand Prix Series returns with the addition of a June stop in Mankato and a September appointment at the U of M Chess Club’s Gopher Open. Rochester remains a July leg of the Grand Prix and has been expanded to include the 1st ever Midwest Women & Girls Regional Championship as well as a Friday night simul put on by local IM celebrities John Bartholomew & Sean Nagle, in the Rochester Chess Festival. 🎪
For those who like their chess at a faster pace, the mid-December Hall of Fame Classic has been transformed into the 1-day 🎊 Holiday Classic 🥳 tournament which leaves plenty of time for other family activities during this busy time of the year. Another interesting twist is a G/45 +45 FIDE-rated format for the Northern Open in its new early October time slot. 🌲
📈 Now up to 550 members, the MSCA has had another year of fantastic growth. To accommodate the increased chess demand there will be some new larger venues introduced into the tournament rotation.
