🏆️ Radermacher Wins 3rd State Senior Championship in Playoff

Updated: Nov 21

Tim Radermacher won his his third Senior Championship in a row, prevailing over Okey Iwu in a tiebreaker playoff at the Chess Castle on November 18 that went all the way to Armageddon! We believe this is the first time under the MSCA's official tiebreaker policy that a playoff has gone to Armageddon.

This was Okey's first Senior and he will surely be a top contender in the years ahead.

Congratulations are in order for both players, putting in a hard day's work with 10 hours of chess in 11 hours between 10am and 9pm. All 5 games were close to the end and finished with time scrambles. The close playoff match reflects a close career match between these two players, which Iwu now leads 8-7 plus 5 draws.

Tim will once again represent Minnesota at the Irwin National Tournament of Senior State Champions in Norfolk, Virginia, July 2024.
