US Amateur North Tournament is Big Success!

"Plan it and they will come". That approach worked well this past weekend as the Minnesota State Chess Association hosted what is believed to be the largest June chess tournament ever held in Minnesota. 164 players competed in 4 sections in Bloomington as part of this national event. Winners included Ashton Jin in the Masters Section, Peyton Smith in the U2200, Mikhail Dossenko in the U1600, and Brandon Welter in the U1100. Congratulations to the planners and tournament directors for this well executed event. The USCF cross tables will be posted online shortly and a more detailed recap of the tournament will be provided in the next edition of the Minnesota Chess Journal.
