State Championship Playoffs!

The annual Minnesota State Championship Playoffs were held in Plymouth the weekend of April 22-24. In the Premier Section it was Sean Nagle and Samrug Narayanan tying for 1st with 4 points scored in the 5 rounds. They will now meet in a to-be-scheduled tiebreaker match to determine the State Champion / Automatic Seeding into the 2023 Playoffs.

In the U2200 section there was a 3-way tie for 1st place between Ethan Hunt, Cub Noble and Puwit Moerlien who each scored 3.5 points in the 5 rounds. Joel Nathe dominated the U2000 with 4.5/5.0 points to finish clear 1st by a full 2 points over 2nd place finisher Turner Gunderson. In the U1700 it was Alexander Augustine winning his last 4 games to take 1st with 4 out of 5 points scored. Alexander also gained 101 rating points!

Congratulations to all! There were many excellent games including 22 draws out of the 60 games played over the course of the weekend.
