Narayanan Repeats as Champion at Class Chess Championships

FM Sammy Narayanan has once again qualified for the Minnesota State Championship Playoffs by winning the Master/Expert section of the November Class Chess Championships. Sammy scored 3.5/4.0 points to claim the title by a full point over a tough field of Masters & Experts. Sammy will now have another chance to chase sole ownership of the Minnesota State Championship Title that he lost in a playoff to Sean Nagle earlier in 2022.

Daniel Garrett had an excellent tournament in the Class A/B Section and scored a perfect 4/4 points. His last round win against previously undefeated Arvind Thiagarajan was the critical match for this section.

The Class C/D Section was paced by Jeremy Keillor and his 3.5/4.0 points. For Class E it was Anvith Pothula scoring 4/4, beating the field by 1.5 points, and accumulating an astounding 153 rating points along the way! For the U1000 Section it was Ilya Chuhunou pacing the field with 3.5/4.0 points. Finally, for the Unrated Section it was Neil Kulevsky scoring a perfect 4.0 points to take home the prize.

Congratulations to all of these winners from the November Class Chess Championships!!
