Jackson Wahl Repeats as Minnesota State Blitz Champion
On August 13th 58 players gathered at the beautiful new Plymouth Community Center for the 2022 Minnesota State Blitz Chess Championship. After 4+ hours of play, 507 games, and an estimated 20,280 moves made by the collective players...Jackson Wahl was once again crowned the best at the blitz!
Jackson scored 14 points in the 18 rounds to finish clear 1st in a challenging field that included 7 titled players. WIM/FM Alice Lee finished 2nd with 13.5 points. Tying for 3rd place were the college-bound tandem of Linden Lee and Ashton Jin with 13.0 points.
In the U2000 category it was Tony Schlaeger, Michael Perry and Ryan Shiroma tying for 1st-3rd place with 11.5 points.
In the U1600 category Akash Dhotre scored a remarkable 11.5 points to take clear 1st. Tying for 2nd prize in the U1600 with 11.0 points were the Alexander's (Screaton & Augustine).
In the U1000 there was once again a 3-way tie for the prizes between Joel Larson, Dominic Mak and Vignesh Subramanian who all scored 9 points.
