Chess Busy Season Arrives in Minnesota!
Those new 2023 calendars are filling up fast with Minnesota Chess opportunities! This past weekend the Winter Open was conducted at the Roseville Skating Center and 151 players competed. Sharing the Open Section Championship with 4.5/5.0 points were Okey Iwu & David Schabert. You can check out the tournament cross-table on our "results" page for the full list of winners by section.
Next up will be the Minnesota Open on February 10-12 in Plymouth. Registration for this premier event is filling up fast with 79 players already registered online. The Minnesota Open also features the annual membership meeting at 5:30 PM Friday night...and the Hall of Fame Ceremony at 3:45 PM on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking of the Hall of Fame, the induction class of 2023 includes Leonard Johnson, Joe Longen, and Warren Stenberg. Be sure to join us for this celebration of their chess careers and contributions to the growth of the Minnesota chess community.
On February 17th it will be the penultimate Round #5 of Twin City Chess League at the Roseville Skating Center. The Uptown Funk Team led by Captain Eric Bell will look to extend their perfect record against the defending champion "Had to Do It" team.
